Project description
The project comprises a prefeasibility study and investigations and survey as well as design of quays and facilities. The harbour is supposed to take ships up to 10000 DWT in the cargo area.
Location
The location is in a narrow cove sheltered in between tow island and the mainland, Reykjavík, Iceland.
Scope of Almenna services
The services that Almenna has provided include:
a) Masterplan study, field investigation and survey for the new harbour site, which included a total quay length of approx. 12 km.
b) Final design and preparation of bid documents for the construction of the cargo harbour.
Vatnagarðar - total quay length 660 m, completed 1968-1990. Holtabakki - total quay length 270 m, completed 1980-1990. Vogabakki - total quay length 179 m, completed 1991.
Project period
1958-2000.
