Building & Industry

The Building and Industry division provides all technical consulting services for civil engineering projects, including conceptual design, bearing capacity design, plumbing, heating, air conditioning and ventilation design, fire protection and acoustic design, steel design and design supervision and follow-up.

The division has been involved in bearing capacity design and the design of plumbing, heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems for all of the main construction projects in Iceland. These include Árnastofnun (Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies), the Háskólatorg service centre for the University of Iceland, an enlargement of the brewery Ölgerðin and Reykjavík City hall.  

The division continuously implements new civil engineering technology, including three-dimensional BIM methodology. It has achieved outstanding results with its solutions for glass-construction, cladding, and window systems. Almenna Consulting has also acquired the right to provide consulting services and certify buildings as environmentally friendly according to the BREEAM system. Clients have varying emphases and requirements for buildings with regard to the appearance, flexibility, durability and lifetime of structures, and we make every effort to meet our customers' requirements and expectations.
